Aus

Where the desert and the dunes of the Namib Naukluft Park meet, you can find the village of Aus. A small hamlet with just 300 inhabitants. It seems uneventful, but there is more than enough to see and do in this area. The town is surrounded by rocky hills and there is a great diversity of nature. That is because this is where three different ecosystems meet. The Karoo, the desert and the Nama-Karoo. Countless different flowers and plants grow here, which creates a beautiful view, especially after it has rained.

The area is known for the large group of wild desert horses that roam here. These horses have adapted to the enormous heat and drought of this area. The water source of Garub can be found 20 kilometres from Aus. These horses, among other animals, come here to drink water.
