Pilanesberg National Park

The Pilanesberg National Park is located around the Pilanesberg, a 1687 meter high extinct volcano. The park is about 55,000 hectares and lies on the transition area of ​​the drought of the Kalahari and the wet Lowveld vegetation. Because the park is exactly on this natural transition, it attracts a large variety of animals and offers a beautiful place. You will find elephants, buffalo, leopards, wild dogs, rhinos and antelopes among others. Bird lovers can indulge themselves here with more than 360 species of birds. In the park there are several huts that are ideal for spotting and photographing animals.

Pilanesberg National Park is close to Johannesburg and Pretoria. The park is a three-hour drive from these cities. In the park itself, Manyane and Baggatla are the most important resorts where you can stay. Around the park you will find a large selection of lodges and hotels.
