Silaka Nature Reserve

Silaka Nature Reserve covers a total of 400ha. The reserve includes coasal forests with giant forest trees clad in mosses, lichens and epiphytic orchids. Silaka Nature Reserve is part of the beautiful Wildcoast area.

This beautiful coastal reserve is situated 8 km south of Port St Johns and stretches from Second Beach to Sugarloaf Rock.

There are many hiking trails in the reserve. Hiking through the evergreen forest and having the opportunity to view some of the birds species such as Knysna Loerie, Cinnamon Dove and Grey Cuckooshrike.

The restcamp is situated near the Gxwaleni River. It is a 2-5 minute walk to the river mouth with a small sandy beach. It is called Third beach and offers a great place to watch the see.
